And yet, with Adam, I was grateful for the nod. At the time I felt surrounded by people who treated me like a child or used kid gloves because I was a woman. Commander Adam Malkovich was normally cool and not one to joke around, but he would end all of his mission briefings by saying, "Any objections, Lady?" He was joking, but others weren't. Me, I was known for giving the thumbs-down during briefing. The thumbs-up sign had been used by the Galactic Federation for ages. Metroid: Other M was re-released on the Wii U's Nintendo eShop in 2016.
It was the third best-selling video game in Japan during its week of release, and the ninth best-selling game in North America during September 2010. The game also received honors from several journalistic sites and magazines. Some journalists, however, criticized its plot and Samus's characterization. Other M received praise for its gameplay, music, graphics and atmosphere. It introduces melee attacks which can only be executed when an enemy's health is reduced. Other M is played from a third-person perspective using only the Wii Remote, and focuses on exploration and combat. The development team employed a simple control scheme to make the game appealing to modern players, and gave significant focus on plot and characterization, with extensive cinematics and voice acting. Longtime Metroid director Yoshio Sakamoto approached Team Ninja to develop Other M, while animation studio D-Rockets was brought in to handle the in-game cutscenes. The player controls intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran, who investigates a derelict space station with a Galactic Federation platoon, including her former commanding officer, Adam Malkovich.
It is part of the Metroid series, and takes place between the events of Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion. Metroid: Other M is an action-adventure video game developed by Team Ninja and Nintendo and published by Nintendo for the Wii in 2010.
